Lori Peterson, DVM

Dr. Lori Peterson is a graduate of Michigan State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and is excited to be joining the staff as an Associate Veterinarian at Countryside Animal Health Center. She is returning to private practice after most recently serving in the field of academic and private research animal care, as well as an occasional relief veterinarian. Dr. Peterson worked full time in private practice in the Midland area for over ten years. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Animal Science from Kansas State University before moving to Midland in 1989 and has been involved at least part-time in the veterinary field since 1982.

Dr. Peterson was involved in breeding and training Labrador Retrievers, and then West Highland White Terriers for both conformation and obedience while living in Kansas and during her first few years in Michigan. This experience helped cultivate her special interests in reproduction, dermatology, canine behavior, as well as the human-animal bond. And, although she is not actively showing, her life would not be complete without at least one black lab and one westie.

Dr. Peterson and her husband, Adam, have no worries that their lab, Trinity, and their westie, Emmie, are ever lonely. They also have a calico cat named Hedwig, and a black cat who goes by Bruce Wayne; two hamsters named Alex and Charlie; a red-eared slider turtle known as Tuck; and several tropical fish. Add this menagerie to their four “two-legged” children ranging in ages from 16 years to 9 years old, and you understand why nobody in the Peterson household is ever bored.
